The history of Azerbaijan ‘s statehood is approximately 5 thousand years old. The first state bodies on the territory of Azerbaijan appeared in late 4,000 — early 3,000 BC. In 1,000 BC there existed Manna, Iskim, Skit, Scyth and such strong states as the Caucasian Albania and Atropatena. These states played a big role in strengthening the culture of government, in the history of economic culture of the country as well as in the uniform nation formation. In the 3rd century AD Azerbaijan was occupied by the empire of Iranian Sasanids and in the 7th century by Arabian Khalifat. The invaders populated the country with numerous Iranians and Arabs. With the introduction of Islamic religion in the 7th century there occurred the important breakthrough in the history of Azerbaijan . Islam greatly facilitated the formation of uniform nation, language, customs and etc. among Turkic and not Turkic peoples on the territory of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan witnessed new political development: on Azerbaijan lands united by Islam the states of Sadzhids, Shirvanshahs, Salarids, Ravvadidso and Sheddadids were established. It was the beginning of the Renaissance of Azerbaijan history. Late 15th — early 16th might be considered as the new milestone in the history of Azerbaijan . An outstanding statesman Shakh Ismail Hatai managed to unite all northern and southern Azerbaijani lands under hi rule. As result Sefevid state with capital in the city of Tabriz was created which later turned into one of the most powerful empires in the Middle East.

Day 1
Arrival to the capital of Azerbaijan — Baku City

Upon arrival to International airport of Baku the tourist will be meted by representative of Azerbaijan Adventures after meeting we will take road to the hotel. Upon arrival to the hotel we will have check in to the hotel and have a free time.

Day 2
Baku City Tour

Start exploring Baku. Day 5

Nakhchivan – Batabat — Baku

Day 6

Baku — Absheron peninsula

Today after breakfast our guide will be waiting on reception in hotel. We will start our tour with excursion to Temple of Fire in Surakhani  Ateshgah. Ateshgah — is a very especial place full of mystery. It bears the evidences of worship to Zoroaster. Here in these walls ancient monotheistic religion started to develop. This great temple is located on unique territory. Hindu community who inhabited Baku created a great monument devoted to their God. Time changed many things but nowadays tourists still could see real phenomenon embodied in natural gas burning. Because of this wonder, sometimes this temple is called “burning mountain — Yanardagh”. After Islam became an official religion, this temple was broken. But merchants from India wished to renew this monument. These well-known chapels and caravanserai appeared again. Today temple looks like long ago. Burning gas is still in this place like in past times. It emphasizes unusual atmosphere. Near Ateshgah each can observe a big hole. Tourists could see a body of Hindus in it. You should ride a little distance from the Baku city to get here. Many tourists come here on excursions. Here you could feel especial atmosphere. You’ll save your memories about this visit for long time. Ateshgah impresses with its long history.  Then we will take road to Ethnographic Reserve GALA. Gala village is located about 40 minutes from Baku. Before him , few people knew and thought , but in recent years the popularity of this small village has become huge. And the reason is simple — someone came up with a great idea to do an archaeological site museum under the open sky. Coming to the museum , you feel caught in the olden days. Day 7

Baku – Guba — Baku

Trip to Guba. Taking the Beshbarmaq Mountain, a sacred place and a popular destination for the locals. Day 8

Baku — Shamakhi — Lahij — Sheki

After breakfast drive to Shamakhy district. Visit the town of Shemakha, Diri Baba Tomb and Yeddi Gumbez. Shemakha was the capital of Shirvan Kingdom for several centuries.Yeddi Gumbaz (The Seven Cupolas) Mausoleum is the burial place for members of the royal families of the Shirvan shahs. Road to Ismailly city. Visit famous Lahij village in Ismayilly district. Many of the 2,000 people living in Lahij are involved in ancient crafts such as engraved copper work and carpet weaving. In the mid-19th century, there were more than 200 workshops in Lahij. Traders discovered Lahij crafts many centuries ago, and sold them for high prices at bazaars in Baghdad [now Iraq], Shiraz [now Iran] and other Middle Eastern cities. Stop by a copper workshop for a impromptu lesson in ancient craftsmanship you’ll get to see coppersmiths use small mallets to decorate plates, trays, jugs, goblets and pitchers, just as their ancestors have done for centuries. Day 9

Sheki — Kish — Baku

Visits of Sheki. Sheki is one of the most famous and ancient places of Azerbaijan. Situated 700 m (2297 ft.) above sea level like an amphitheatre surrounded by the mountains and forests of oak trees, this ancient city was long famed as a silk centre and an important stop on the Great Silk Route. There is an assumption that the name of the town goes back to the ethnonym of the Saks, who reached the territory of Azerbaijan in the 7th century BC. We’ll start our Sheki tour from visiting the 18th century Khan’s summer palace with magnificent frescos and exquisite stained glass work. Sheki History museum is famous with artifacts from several periods. Transfer to hotel.
