Caucasus — is a cradle of ancient civilisations, created by people inhabited this territory, which preserved rich material and cultural legacy of ancient state Albania. Azerbaijan is a heir of Caucasian Albania and subsequent formations at its territory, and Albanians are the ones of ancestors of Azerbaijan nation. The most ancient Christian church in Caucasus — is Albanian church Kish, established in 1 -2 century A.D by apostle Elysee in Sheki region, and also temples Gandzasar and Amaras in Karabagh are still remained uptoday at places where at present live descendants of gunns, gels, alpnas, legs and udins. The Caucasian Albanian alphabet, which is also known as the Old Udi script, was used by the Caucasian Albanians, speakers of a northeast Caucasian language who lived in parts of what is now Azerbaijan and Daghestan.

Day 1
Arrival to the capital of Azerbaijan Baku city

Arrival to the capital of Azerbaijan Baku city. Our guide will meet you in the International airport name of Haydar Aliyev. During the transfer to hotel guide will give you some information about Azerbaijan. Upon arrival to Baku check in to the hotel (13:00 check in time). After check in the tourist will have free time. Day 2
Baku City Tour and Absheron Peninsula

Today after breakfast our guide will be waiting on reception in hotel. Excursion to Gobustan. Gobustan — fairyland, which is located on the territory of one of the world’s cradles, in Azerbaijan, in 60 km to the South from Baku). Gobustan covers three areas in semi-arid areas, on a rocky plateau in the Central part of Azerbaijan. Pass the century and the Millennium, but for the spirits, and keeps the history of the land of hills and ravines, which means the name of the place, the time is passing by sand blown in the wind, perfecting mountainous terrain of the National Park of Azerbaijan (National Park)included in the world heritage list of UNESCO. The stones of Gobustan has entertained many things: the origin of civilizations, sites of ancient people, Roman Legionnaires, the sanctuary, the aliens. And all that is somehow appeared before the eyes of the ancient man, reflected in artistic images, captured on the rock paintings — petroglyphs: hunting scenes, images of flora and fauna, ships and boats, battles and everyday moments of life. Collection of Rock Art Cultural Landscape has more than 6000 rock carvings, showing at least about 40,000-year history of Gobustan: remains of dwelling caves with stands of ancient people and burial are calculated from the era of the early Paleolithic to the middle ages. Gobustan is a unique values of the area, since nowhere in the world there is no such obvious density evidence of ancient life. Sightseeing tour of Baku with a visit of the monumental, historical and architectural monuments of the city: you will see a panorama of the city of Baku Bay and the Upland Park. To touch the history of the country people must investigate its oldest places. Start the excursion through Baku from Icheri sheher-the inner city. There is an opinion that Old City with Maiden Tower was built in 12th century. Other scientists say that this monumental complex was created not earlier as 7th century. Nobody know exactly how old these pieces of architecture are, but they remain the main part of modern Baku. This place has two gates. Having a walk about this territory you can notice Shirvanshah’s Palace – a rather clear evidence of the past time in Baku city. It takes us back in time when Shirvanshahs dynasty ruled here. A magnificent look of this Palace impresses modern tourists. Karavansaray will help you to know Eastern architecture as it is an important example of it. In ancient times all eastern cities had several caravanserais. They were traditionally built on trade routes between two different parts of Eurasian continent – Europe and Asia. It was a place where merchants and travelers could stay for rest. In Inner City tourists could also observe pagan temples that render the atmosphere of far gone days. A museum in Maiden Tower helps to learn some facts from historical evolution of Baku. Day 3

Baku — Shemakha — Gabala 

Azerbaijan has many secrets that are able to express the ancient beauty. Shamakhi is an especial city among the others. Long ago it was a capital of well-known Shirvan Empire. Here representatives of Shirvan Dynasty lived. Nowadays Shamakhi is thought to be a place with very developed winemaking. Visiting this city you have an opportunity to observe an outstanding mausoleum called Yeddi Gumbez. Its magnificent domes rise above the silent and lonesome landscapes and create mysterious atmosphere. Then in Shamakhi you can find an interesting architecture Diri Baba. This is a famous tomb place. Its architectural complex bears a clear evidence of the middle ages. Diri Baba was built on the rock and look like a big eagle nest. To investigate it you must be strong as you should climb a straight wall. But after you do it, you’ll see a sacred place from inside. Before we come up closer to it we see only one facade but the other sides are hidden in cliffs. The monument has two stores. Scientists say that the first one could be used by servants. The salon is in the second floor. You could get there using stairs. The tourists have different opinions about this monument. One thinks it to be a real sacred place while another see it as a simple burial place. Drive to Gabala. Gabala is one of the most beautiful parts of Azerbaijan with a rich and ancient history. Some time in the past (for 600 years) this city (Kabala) was the capital of Caucasian Albania. Up to the present time there are the ruins of the ancient city and the main gate of Caucasian Albania. Ongoing excavations near the village Chukhur confirm that Gabala from IV – III centuries BC and up to the XVIII century was one of the major cities with developed trade and crafts. The Nij village that is about 20 km from Gabala has also gained fame. There live Udins – the direct descendants of ancient Caucasian Albanians. Excursion to Albanian church in Nij village.   In Gabala at the area of 16 hectares is located the largest amusement park under the open sky in Azerbaijan – Gabaland. Visitors are provided with family, kids and extreme kinds of attractions, ice arena, carting, sports fields, XD theatre, convenient parking, great food in restaurants and cafes. And every two years within its limits is held a contest of piano art. Not surprisingly that exactly in Gabala is located a factory on piano manufacturing under the famous Dutch brand Beltman. Day 4

Gabala — Sheki

Breakfast in the hotel. Check out and drive to Sheki. Arrival to Sheki and accommodation in the hotel. Begin to explore Sheki city. An excursion to Sheki will bring you a good portion of joy. This is the oldest city in Azerbaijan. In ancient times people sold silk here. It was famous among merchants from the Great Silk Road. Sheki has a big History museum where tourist could investigate artifacts from different periods. Another interesting place is Khan’s summer Palace. It has wonderful facades decorated with floral motives. Interior design of it impresses even more. Here you can see different frescoes painted by the best craftsman. Some of them feature flowers, while another give us a picture of ancient hunting or scenes of battles. To build a palace masters used bricks, river stones and oak. It has 6 rooms. You can also see two beautiful mirrored balconies here. In other decoration rare colored Venetian glass is used. All rooms in this palace have especial decorations. We can find here refined miniatures featuring birds, animals, paradise scenes. All these paintings were made with bright colors. This building shows us that even in 17th century wall-painting was rather developed. The first floor of this palace shows the richness and powerful reign of khans. A great number of animals and hunting motives on the walls are thought to be symbols of nobility. In ancient times the palace was surrounded by beautiful garden. Nowadays we see only two big trees here.  On road Excursion to the village Kish. Village Kish famous for its huge Christian architectural monument. This is Albanian church which history goes back to 6th-7th centuries. An ancient cemetery is located near the temple. All burial places are under the glass cupola. Looking through it you can see remains of ancient humans. They impress with their height. Sometimes they appear to be 2,5 meter or higher.  ncient Albanian people were giants with white skin. Their hair was golden. They looked unlike modern Caucasian nations. That’s why sometimes this village is called like “land of Atlants”.

Sheki — Baku
